Meet Me Monday ~~DeAnna Catron Goen

Welcome to Meet Up Monday!   Our guest designer today is DE ANNA CATRON GOEN!!

It was about 12 years ago when a co-worker introduced me to scrapbooking. I’m sure I would have a lot more money in my checking account if it wasn’t for my friend, Rose! LOL I don’t think I would be nearly as happy, though. I have made some great friends through my love of paper and all things scrappy. I love to make cards. I currently support Operation Write Home by making blank greeting cards that are sent to military contacts all over the world to send a sweet note to a loved one back home. I also love to scrapbook. Currently, I love all things mini…mini albums, that is. Mini albums are a great way to showcase a single event or time period. For the most part, I have been a “traditional” 12x12 scrapper, but recently, I was introduced to SMASH*books and Daybooks (mini smashbooks) and have fallen in love with SMASH*ing. I participate in swaps on Facebook (The Scrap CafĂ©) and on Your Paper Pantry. I have even been known to participate in a one-on-one swap with a crafty friend. I also take custom orders for cards and mini albums.

Here is a little creativeness that DeAnna has to share with us.  Her challenge:  to use her scraps and the colors Pink or Red:

Friday Freebies - 2/7/14

Welcome to the first Friday Freebies post! I found these adorable beach balls to download that would be awesome for a Summer type card . I found them on http://opalmanor.com/give-me-sun/ & soon as you click the image , it takes you to another page to download them.
I hope to get our printer set up soon , as I have so many ideas for these.Hope you enjoy the brief moments of Summer & get some inspiration. I found the site through a random freebie search.  I might be back to check them more often.

On my search to find more out there freebies, I came across this one Titled Wonky House from Spyder's Corner. http://spyder-spyderscorner.blogspot.co.nz/ Once you are into her blog, make sure you click the GREEN word where it says HERE to download then save on your computer as normal.
It's cute & quirky , might suit any New Home or Welcome home themed card. I have a idea that I hope to try but as I'm sure any colors would work well with it, I can see myself already printing off about 6 or 9 per page. I suppose at a glance it looks like something that could even work for a Dr Seuss themed party invite...hmmm can't stop thinking now

Technique Thursday - Acrylic Batik

I found this super easy Acrylic Batik technique from Splitcoast Stampers that would be so fun to use on many projects.

Check it out  HERE on YouTube, or if you like to see things step by step, you can get the instructions here at Splitcoast Stampers.

This is what it can look like:

Can you imagine the projects you can create using this simple technique???

Teach-Me Tuesday - Top of the Morning to You!

Good morning,

I hope you are having a great week so far. Now, on to some scrappin'! We are scheduling something new - Teach-Me Tuesdays.  Every other Tuesday, one of our designers will post step-by-step instructions to a project made with scraps.

Here is a card I made in about 15 minutes.

First lesson - If I purchase a paper pack for a specific project, I try to keep all my scraps from that project together...storing them in one plastic 12 x 12 storage envelope That way, when I need a quick card, everything in that envelope is color coordinated - and I have fewer decisions to make. I used scraps from Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters Collection. I've been working on St. Patrick Day cards for a couple weeks now - so cut a whole page of shamrock accents (freebie from Images by Heather) in different sizes on a piece of scrap green-patterned paper. So I already had some of those laying around.

I began with these scraps.
I began with a cream card base - 5-1/4" x 5-1/4". I used a deckle blade to cut three sides of the striped cardstock to be the card front - 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". The other scraps - I pretty much cut five rectangles. The only measuring I did was to mat a couple of the scrap rectangles. Just used whatever size rectangles I could get from the scraps I had left...starting to just glue them down wherever! I did decide I needed something to bring it all together - so added a green border matted with purple.

I popped up the last couple pieces of scraps I selected - and added a couple of the Shamrock Accents.
Come back to visit us as we keep posting new ideas for using scraps.
